Dry rot loves the spots nobody looks at. At this Antelope home, it was tucked into a corner behind the AC unit, quietly eating away at the siding and the wood behind it. It's a tight, out-of-the-way spot, which is exactly why it had time to spread.
What we did
We cut out the damaged section of siding and the rotted wood behind it, repaired the corner, and closed it back up with new siding.
The result
The corner is solid again, and the new siding blends in with the rest of the house. From the yard, you'd never know there was a problem hiding back there.
A quick dry rot tip
Check behind AC units, under downspouts and near sprinklers: anywhere water hits the same spot over and over. Those are the places where dry rot tends to start, and they're easy to miss because you don't walk past them every day. A quick look a couple of times a year can save you a bigger repair later.
