From the street, this Rio Linda home just looked a little tired. The blue-gray siding was faded, and the paint had seen better days. Once we started pulling the old siding off, we found the real problem: dry rot hiding behind it.
What we did
We removed the old siding and cut out the rotted wood underneath, replacing it with solid new material. Before anything went back on, we wrapped the walls in Tyvek house wrap to help keep moisture out. Then we installed new siding and finished it in a fresh green with crisp white trim.
The result
It's a whole new look from the curb, and more importantly, the walls are solid underneath again. Compare the before and after photos taken from almost the same spot and you can see how much the house changed.
A quick dry rot tip
Soft or crumbly wood near the ground, paint that keeps peeling in the same spot, or gaps at siding seams are all worth a closer look. Catching dry rot early usually means replacing a lot less wood.
We're a family-owned, licensed general contractor (CSLB #1083145) based right here in Rio Linda. If you're seeing signs of dry rot or your siding is overdue, we'd be glad to come take a look.
